The Distribution module connects multiple Valigara accounts into networks of vendors and suppliers, sharing the same inventory for distribution and order handling. The module creates a relation between the product in the vendor and distributor accounts, which allows the vendor to process orders placed through the distributor's sales channels.
Terminology
- Vendor/Supplier/Master account - distributes products to other accounts and fulfills orders when they occur.
- Distributor/Dropshipper/Reseller/Slave account - receives and resells products using its own sales channels.
- Linked Product - the vendor's product, fetched into the distributor's Valigara account using the Distribution module link.
Accounts connection
In the Vendor account:
- The vendor creates product feeds using the Feeds module, including all the information they want to share with the distributor.
- The vendor can create multiple feeds according to each distributor's needs.
In the Distributor account:
- Products and inventory updates are fetched into the account from the vendor's feed using the Products Import/Update Schedule.
- The distributor can create feeds to fetch products from multiple vendors.
As soon as a product from the vendor's account is imported into the distributor's account, Valigara identifies it as a Linked Product and starts executing the Distribution module logic for that product.
Order Processing
When a new order is received in the Distributor account:
- Valigara checks whether it includes a Linked Product from the vendor's account.
- If yes, the order appears in both the dropshipper's and supplier's accounts.
- The distributor sees the regular order channel (Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, eBay, etc.).
- The vendor sees the order channel as Dropshipping, with the dropshipper's Valigara ID.
- The order is created with the status defined by the vendor in the Dropshipping module settings.
- If no status is selected, the order is not created.
Adding tracking information for a Dropshipping order in the Vendor account:
- The vendor enters the tracking information:
- Carrier (required)
- Tracking number (required)
- Send date (required)
- Extended field 1 (optional)
- The distributor's account is updated with the tracking information.
- Setting tracking numbers in bulk works the same way for these orders.
