How to post jewelry on Walmart without Product Identifiers

Modified on Tue, 16 Jul at 12:17 PM

UPC (or universal product code) is a type of barcode used in retail and e-commerce to identify a particular product or product variant.

Walmart requires a unique product identifiers (UPC/EAN/GTIN) for each listing published on their marketplace.

While most products have a UPC, it won’t apply to some types of jewelry, especially if it's produced on demand. To sell jewelry on Walmart without submitting Product IDs, you can request a UPC Exemption.

  • Create relevant case in Partner Support.
  • Mention the categories you request an exemption for (Jewelry); If your items are hand made; If you are a brand/manufacturer, retailer/reseller or both.
  • If you have a website, include your website URL with links to 2-3 products you propose to list.

After receiving the approval from Walmart,

  • For UPC exemption, use "Product Identifier Type: GTIN" and "Walmart Identifier: CUSTOM"
