Shopify collections: Static vs Dynamic

Modified on Sun, 16 Aug at 1:29 PM

Shopify allows grouping products into collections to make it easier for customers to find them. Collections are available to view and edit from the Collections page of your Shopify admin.

There are 2 types of collections: Static and Dynamic.

TypeValigara visibility & syncProducts assignment to collection in Shopify
StaticYES. Fetched into Valigara. Appears in Product: Commercial -> Shopify -> Collection field.Products are assigned manually. Changes in product fields do not modify their relation to collections.
DynamicNO. Not fetched and not visible in Valigara.Products are assigned by conditions. Changes in products will affect their relation to collections.

When a product matches these conditions, Shopify automatically adds it to the collection. If the product no longer matches the conditions, Shopify automatically removes it from the collection.

Example: In Shopify, you can create a dynamic collection called Diamond Rings and define conditions such as:

  • Product type is Ring
  • Product title contains Diamond
  • Product tag is diamond-ring

  • Filter products according to their relation to Shopify collections by using the collection title, <EMPTY>, and <NOT EMPTY> options.
