HowTo improve eBay listings with Violation messages

Modified on Tue, 8 Oct at 4:22 PM

eBay regularly checks the marketplace listings' quality. Based on the results, eBay generates "Violation messages" - a list of recommendations based on eBay's search engine requirements and best practices. eBay reports 4 Violation types:

  • Aspects Adoption - checks issues with Item Specifics
  • HTTPS - checks if eBay description has non-HTTPS links
  • Outside eBay Selling - checks if eBay description has non-allowed links to external websites
  • Returns Policy - checks issues with returns policies

Aspects Adoption is the most frequent message. It points sellers to improving the content of the listing's Item Specifics —product-specific, category-specific search parameters. This structured product information in the listing helps eBay's algorithms correctly understand the listing and display relevant jewelry to buyers. eBay checks both if the listing has all the recommended Item Specifics and if the values provided are correct.

Valigara fetches the Violation messages, to provide an effective way of improving your jewelry sales on eBay.

To improve the listings using the Violation Messages:

1. Go to eBay.com listings page

2. In the columns selector, select "Violations" and "Violations Messages"  columns, to see the eBay recommendations

4. Open the listings filter, and find all listings with the relevant Violation

5. Select relevant listings, and use "Show products"

6. After updating the missing/wrong product or gemstone information, remember to bulk revise Item Specifics in relevant eBay listings to propagate the correct values.

  • eBay Listing Violations are available in the eBay block of the Insights page
